Winter paradise

a workshop in the North

Snow covered landscapes, cold, arctic sun, colorful nights - The North.

As an avid lover of Lofoten, I’ve been to this place more that I could count. Granite mountains cascading straight out of the ocean, sharp peaks, beautiful bays and caribbean like beaches. In winter the Lofoten Islands appear wild and calm at the same time. Snow covers the sharp peaks giving only a hint of what’s underneath the snow while the beaches turn into a minimalist landscape with all the snow covering the rocks. Photographing the right conditions in winter is a feeling of being close to heaven - capturing those, a certain stubbornness is needed as well as time and patience. If it pays off, the nights turn even more colorful than the days with the green lady dancing above your head.

Join me on an unforgettable workshop to learn and capture the harsh and unforgivable landscape of the North, embracing the cold, chasing storms, the northern lights and feel the warmth of the magical winter sun.

Date and price will be announced soon.

  • Learn.

The goal of this workshop is to create a fundament for you to enhance your current knowledge, dive deeper into one segment and get an insight in the work I do on a daily basis. As I assume most of you now the basics of photography and your camera we won’t go through elemental things (see pdf for more details).

  • Grow.

Life in the Arctic is fundamentally based on being spontaneous - if the weather is good for photography we’ll be outside, training your practical skills and have theoretical parts while driving and on the location If the weather is not suitable for shooting, we’ll be inside with a cup of coffee or tea and go through the theoretical part.

  • Make.

Not only your camera gear will suffer, the cold and humidity also finds its way through all your layers of clothes. Expected temperatures range from -10°C to +5°C and while this doesn’t sound too cold, wait until you feel the constant arctic breeze, bringing the perceived temperature down to about -20°C.
