Greenland Expedition

Embark on an unforgettable Sailing expedition to Scoresby Sound in East Greenland.

A once in a lifetime opportunity in beginning of September with Tashi and me! Embark on a photo tour expedition through Scoresby Sound, the largest and one of the most remote fjords on earth with dramatic mountain peaks, icebergs and the possibility of seeing northern lights and polar bears. Flights are included from Reykjavik and we will be landing on the rugged east coast of Greenland, where our ship Ópal waits for us. We’ll have the schooner entirely for ourselves making sure that we are private and small group. 8 amazing days exploring the fjord, sailing, hiking and visiting the remote settlement of Ittoqqortoormiit with endless photo opportunities along our route!

Ópal - our Home.

Ópal is a beautiful wooden schooner that is built for expeditions with lots of space on the deck and a cozy room to come together inside and chill in front of the fireplace. And the best thing - there’s even a hot tub waiting for you on the deck to warm up after you have done the Arctic plunge!

As we sail through the unspoiled arctic landscape – or when ashore – we might come across some of Greenland’s sensational wildlife in their natural habitat. Although rare, polar bears, have been spotted as they curiously observe our passing. Other animals are more common, especially snow hares, seals and muskoxen. Regardless of whether hiking in the breathtaking arctic environment or onboard the vessel sailing through the kingdom of ice is a feeling that cannot be described and will be something you will never forget.

Last but not least, we will visit Ittoqqortoormiit, one of the most isolated villages on the western hemisphere. This home of roughly 450 hardy inhabitants is truly awe-inspiring, as it is possible to experience the historical and cultural roots of this traditional Inuit community.
